Hells Gate Airtram near Hope BC Hell's Gate Airtram. Enjoy North America's steepest declining Airtram; fully suspended as it passes through the most traitorous section of the Fraser River, Hells Gate. This section of the river was named after Simon Fraser's voyage in 1808, stating in his journal that "no man should ever pass through here it was truly like passing through the Gates of Hell!" Hells Gate is home to huge fish ways constructed to assist the millions of salmon that pass through the river every year.
