Hell's Gate Airtram. Enjoy North America's steepest declining Airtram; fully suspended as it passes through the most traitorous section of the Fraser River, Hells Gate. This section of the river was named after Simon Fraser's voyage in 1808, stating in his journal that "no man should ever pass through here it was truly like passing through the Gates of Hell!" Hells Gate is home to huge fish ways constructed to assist the millions of salmon that pass through the river every year. While visiting Hells Gate walk across the suspension bridge, take a few snap shots, then go back and view the river from many observation decks. There is an educational center with videos, the history of the railways and of course the lives of the spawning salmon. Read More>>>

Yale, B.C. was once the largest city north of San Francisco and west of Chicago. Originally established in 1848 as a Hudson's Bay Company trading post, Yale grew with the influx of an estimated 30,000 gold miners during the gold rush of 1858. In the 1860's, with the construction of the Cariboo Wagon Road, Yale became the main terminal for one of the largest sternwheeler routes in North America. The 1880's saw the building of the Canadian Pacific Railway, with construction headquarters housed in Yale. The Yale Historic Site is one of eleven Province of British Columbia Heritage Sites and is managed by the Yale and District Historical Society. The Society was formed in 1977 to gather, preserve, record and exhibit Yale's history. The 'Historic Yale' story is told through the preservation and maintenance of the St. John the Divine Church and the 1870's 'Creighton House' Museum and artifacts. The Yale and District Historical Society (YDHS) is a non-profit, registered charitable organization, holding the current contract with the BC Heritage Branch of the Provincial Government to maintain and operate the Heritage Site and buildings.
