In November of 1981 Hollywood film
crews began to transform Hope British Columbia into a rural American
town in the filming
of
the blockbuster hit Rambo First Blood. Over the next several months hope
and the Fraser Canyon experienced gas station explosions, gun fire and
stunt men. As excited as as the locals were to be apart of such a major
film project in there home town, little did they know the legacy that
would be left behind for ever. The Success of Rambo First Blood led into
a series of 4 films made from 1981 - 2007. Rambo fanatics from around
the world travel to the small town of Hope British Columbia to get a
glimpse of what people now call Rambo Town. Many of the original
locations used in this film are still left unchanged so fans can really
see and touch many of the sets and props used in the film. The Hope
Visitor Info Center and museum in Hope BC has a great selection of
props, and film memorabilia available for viewing. There knowledgeable
staff can provide you with information on the film, great stories and
directions to filming locations.
Othello Tunnels
Located
in the most rugged section of the Coquihalla Canyon, the
Othello Tunnels in Hope British Columbia
displays great history scenery and and makes a nice leisure walk through
some of British Columbia's most Beautiful landscapes. In the Coquihalla
engineers forged through mountain cliffs and over the raging canyon to
construct a series of bridges and tunnels that blast through the rugged
terrain, you can walk along the path where the Kettle Valley Railway
once operated, learn about this spectacular piece of history, and view
the magnificent Coquihalla Canyon.

Memorial Park in Hope BC is a

community. The memorial Park is complete with a series of chainsaw
carvings, children's play areas, the friendship gardens, picnic areas in
both large open grass areas, and among towering evergreen trees. The
Park is open year round and is close to many local activities like the

Kawkawa Creek in Hope BC, Also known as
Suckers Creek is a popular destination for those wanting to see pacific
salmon spawning. Suckers Creek has different Salmon runs through out the

THE HOPE SLIDE
The Hope Slide
46 million cubic
meters of earth, rock and snow smashing down in a matter of seconds from
the over 2000 meter high mountain it came from. Filling the bottom of
the valley with 70 meters deep. Outram Lake at the foot of the mountain
was completely buried sending the water and soft clay from the lake bed
were shot violently up the mountain on the opposite side of the Valley
spreading to a south-east direction sweeping away everything in its
path. Seismographs recorded to earthquakes the morning in the Nicolum
valley, one these earthquakes was at 6:58 am the approximate time

Hope Museum and Visitor Information Center, The Hope Museum is
packed full of great memories, memorabilia, photos and information about
the vast history of
Hope BC while at the Museum you can take your photo at of the
Hollywood of the North photo booths located outside of the Museum. Also
visit there Home gold mine where you can view the mechanics of a home
made industrial used gold mine. This is a must stop for any Travelers as
the site also serves as a Visitor Information Center.
kAWKAWA lake
Kawkawa Lake in Hope BC is a great place
to beat the heat, with public beach, boat rentals and more also you can
stay at one of the many local accommodations including great campsite,
RV parks and Bed and Breakfast with private lake access. kawaka Lake is
near the Coquihalla Canyon and the Othello tunnels. This lake has great
recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, and swimming.
The Lake is also known for the beautiful spawning Kokanee salmon you can

Manning
Provincial Park is a most magnificent valley
full of pristine lakes, wild life, canyons and valleys, lakes, rivers
and streams. It is a heaven for outdoor adventure, beautiful scenery and
much more! Manning Provincial is a bird watchers heaven with over 200
species of birds ranging in all altitudes. In the summer, there is
endless mountain hiking. In the winter, you can go alpine skiing,
snowboarding, cross country and skate skiing, and snow showing at
Manning Park Resort.

Hell's Gate Airtram Enjoy North
America's Steepest Declining Airtram, Fully Suspended as it passes
through the most traitorous section of
the Fraser River Hells Gate, Named after Simon Fraser's Voyage in 1808,
stating in his journal that no man should ever pass through here it was
truly like passing through the Gates of Hell! Hells Gate is home to
gigantic fish ways constructed to assist the millions of salmon the pass
through the river every year. While Visiting Hells Gate walk across the
suspension bridge view the river from many observation decks. There is
an educational Center with videos and information and the history, the
railway and of course the Spawning Salmon.
Hope & District Recreation Center
The Hope and District Recreation Center is home a large pool, with a children's fun pool and a whirl pool play park, hot tubs, sauna and steam room, gym and cardio room, an Ice Rink, Curling Rink Baseball, Soccer and Football Fields, and a outdoor skate-board and bike park. Facilities are available for rent outside of public hours, and make a great venue for group events. They also make a great place to take the family during one of those hot summer canyon days, The Recreation center is open year round.
Mountain Biking
The Fraser Canyon is home to some of the most beautiful
and adventurous
mountain biking trails in the world the trails
range for beginner to expert and offer and and downhill biker a exciting
challenge. Many trails in the Hope area have been constructed by local
downhill riders. These trails have great bridge work jumps and more. To

The Coquihalla Canyon
The Coquihalla River Flows into the Fraser River in Hope
BC,
The gorgeous Dark Green River winds through the jagged mountains in the
Coquihalla Canyon Ripping through mountains this river is a testimony of
natures unspoken power, This river is rafted and . kayaked during
certain parts of the season, and there is great fishing opportunities on
the Coquihalla. Visit Othello tunnels were engineers battled to blast a
railway using a series of bridges and tunnels passing through some of
the most traitorous parts of the canyon. The Othello Tunnels is located

SILVER RIVER (SKAGIT provincial park)
The
Skagit Provincial Park is
approximately two hours from the Greater Vancouver area,
Skagit Valley is part of a larger protected area complex
that includes the US North Cascades National Park and the
Ross Lake and Lake Chelan National Recreation Areas. This large tract of territory contains the Ross Lake Reservoir,
an important source of hydroelectricity for Seattle City Light.
The Skagit Valley was carved by retreating glaciers and is
characterized by excellent outdoor recreation opportunities
in a natural, wilderness-like setting. Visitors can enjoy
hiking along 50 km of trails, river fishing, camping, and
picnicking.
Park Size: 27,948 hectares
jones lake
Jones Lake Reservoir is situated in the Skagit Range of
the Cascade Mountains and offers spectacular glacier views. The Recreation
Area is located 42 km east of Chilliwack. From Highway 1, take the Jones
Lake exit, No. 153, and follow Laidlaw Road to the Jones Lake Forest Service
Road. Follow the posted signs along this steep, gravel logging road for
another 9 kilometers to reach the recreation area. Road conditions may be
poor, even during the summer. The road is an active logging road with steep,
rough sections, designed for 4x4 vehicles with high clearance. Access for
small cars, RVs and trailers is not recommended. Heavy snowfall restricts
vehicle access to the recreation area during winter months.
