NAH-NOOSE

Seen and talked about by locals for generations is Nah-Noose, a giant water snake. One of the Nahatlatch Lakes is known to be "bottom less" and is said to have a several thousand foot deep canyon inside. The delves of this deep canyon is where this water snake, Nah-Noose, and "Family" are said to live. Although Nah-Noose has not been known to hurt or kill anyone, locals are still mildly afraid of this giant unknown creature. As Native legend tells it Nah-Noose is an extremely large snake-like creature with small fins near the front and back of its body topped with an ugly face and an overhanging lip. Legends say that Nah-Noose can swim from each end of the lake so fast you can only see the trail of waves it leaves behinds. Sightings are common in the third lake of the Nahatlatch though Nah-noose has been known to make a substantial presence for only brief moments. "Like any unexplained mystery Nah-Noose has its skeptics", says local resident Travis Conkin, who saw Nah-Noose last summer while enjoying a canoeing trip in the Nahatlatch Lakes. "Its really one of those things you have to see to believe". Travis who has spent countless weekends on camping trips in the Nahatlatch says it is like nothing he has ever seen in all of his years enjoying this beautiful provincial park. This story, like many others, leaves the questioning thought in all of our minds: does Nah-Noose exist? The Nahatlatch River Valley and Provincial Park is a remote area located in the Fraser Canyon out of Boston Bar, BC. Visitors can get the chance to witness Nah-noose for themselves, but be sure to bring a video camera! For more information and driving directions to the Nahatlatch River Valley click here.
